Congratulations to the 2012 winners of the Dayton Liederkranz Academic Scholarship and Education Grant programs. Our top scholar is Jonathan
Meyer, a DLT family member along with his parents Brian and Monica Meyer. Jonathan is a senior at Chaminade-Julienne High School with an
outstanding resume of academic achievement, community involvement, and support for German heritage. His $1,500 scholarship will be awarded
at the Picnic. |
A second place scholarship of $700 is being awarded to Audrey Martin, a senior at Xenia High School. She received all A’s through high school
and has been very active with the Liederkranz. She is the Granddaughter of Butch and Betty Lou Martin.
Out Education Grant this year goes to Tara Fugate who plans to study theater at Sinclair Community College. Tara is the daughter of Mike and Debbie Venys.
Awards to our 2012 winners will be made at the GermanFest Picnic opening ceremonies. Competition was especially keen this year and we thank
all of the applicants. Special thanks to the Selection Committee of Heidi Gasper, Margie Wirth, and Ed Ruetschle. The DLT scholarship/grant
program is one of the benefits of membership.
